Subdistrict town of Sonder is located in Minahasa regency of North Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. It is a nice destination for visitors who are interested in birdwatching. A lot of species of birds could be watched in higher elevation forest, and farmland. Some of them are listed below:

The lower elevation forest and farmland are good places for finding Green Imperial Pigeon, Sulawesi-crested Myna, White-rumped Triller, Gray-rumped Treeswift, and etc.
Visitors need to bring binoculars, and camera with telephoto lens in order to watch and take pictures of birds in distant trees. Some of them even have got spotting scope.
The duration of time for birding in Sonder and other parts of Minahasa highland such as Mount Mahawu, Lake Linow, and farm forest between Tomohon and Sonder is usually 4 days/ 3 nights.
Wildlife Watching Tour in Tangkoko Nature Reserve
This birdwatching tour in Minahasa highland could be extended for 3 to 4 more days in Tangkoko Nature Reserve. Its forest is the habitat of Green-backed Kingfisher, Sulawesi Lilac Kingfisher, Great-billed Kingfisher, Ashy Woodpecker, and etc.
